Officially announces
The Latin American Glaucoma Society (sLAG) officially announces the opening of applications for the sLAG Glaucoma Fellows Course 2026, an academic initiative designed for individuals who are currently undergoing or have recently completed advanced training in glaucoma in Latin America.
This program will take place within the framework of the 13th Congress of the Latin American Glaucoma Society, to be held in Quito, Ecuador, from September 24 to 26, 2026.
The objective of this call is to foster the academic, scientific, and clinical development of the next generation of glaucoma specialists by promoting research, critical thinking, and scientific exchange among professionals from different countries across the region.
Through this initiative, sLAG reaffirms its commitment to training future generations of glaucoma specialists, promoting academic excellence, scientific research, and regional integration throughout Latin America.

Fellows
This initiative seeks to identify, support, and recognize emerging talents across the region, providing them with the opportunity to participate in a high-level academic environment designed to strengthen scientific discussion, critical thinking, and the presentation of clinical cases and research, while fostering integration with leading Latin American and international experts in the subspecialty.
Who May Apply?
Ophthalmologists
Board-certified ophthalmologists who are currently enrolled in, or have completed within the last 12 months, a Glaucoma Fellowship endorsed by a recognized university or institutional program, and who belong to any of the Latin American countries where the Latin American Glaucoma Society has official representation (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Paraguay).
General Requirements

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a glaucoma fellowship during the 2025–2026 period or have completed a formal glaucoma fellowship program within the last 12 months. In countries where no accredited glaucoma fellowship program exists, final-year ophthalmology residents with an interest in glaucoma may apply.

The training program (fellowship or residency) must belong to one of the countries where members of the Latin American Glaucoma Society are present: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Paraguay.

Applications must be submitted through the digital platform designated for this purpose, available on the website of the Latin American Glaucoma Society.

Each participant may submit only one work as the principal author.

Submitted works must be original and unpublished.

Works that have been previously presented at international congresses will not be accepted.

Submissions must be received exclusively within the established deadlines.

No deadline extensions or late submissions will be accepted.

Applicants must attach a certificate verifying their status as a fellow or resident, as applicable.

Applications will be evaluated by a review committee composed of members of the Latin American Glaucoma Society.

Selected Fellows will receive an official invitation to participate in the sLAG Fellows Course 2026. The scholarship includes academic registration, airfare, accommodation, participation in the exclusive Fellows Course and the 2026 Scientific Congress, full access to the Scientific Congress, official recognition, and the opportunity to share an enriching academic experience alongside leading Latin American and global glaucoma experts.
The Latin American Glaucoma Society invites the new generation of specialists to participate in this call for applications, conceived as a space to learn, share knowledge, strengthen professional ties, and contribute to the advancement of the subspecialty throughout the region.
