The Latin American Glaucoma Society — sLAG

Officially announces

The opening of the call for applications for the sLAG Glaucoma Fellows Course 2026, an academic initiative aimed at those who are currently undergoing or have recently completed advanced glaucoma training in Latin America.
 

This program will take place within the framework of the XIII Congress of the Latin American Glaucoma Society, to be held in Quito, Ecuador, from September 24 to 26, 2026.

Call for Applications

This initiative seeks to identify, support, and recognize emerging talents across the region, providing them with the opportunity to participate in a high-level academic environment designed to strengthen scientific discussion, critical thinking, and the presentation of clinical cases and research, while fostering integration with leading Latin American and international experts in the subspecialty.

Who May Apply?

Ophthalmologists

Board-certified ophthalmologists who are currently enrolled in, or have completed within the last 12 months, a Glaucoma Fellowship endorsed by a recognized university or institutional program, and who belong to any of the Latin American countries where the Latin American Glaucoma Society has official representation (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Paraguay).

Categories

Each applicant may submit only one application in one of the following categories:

Clinical Case
 

A real glaucoma case with outstanding academic value:
 

  • Clear diagnosis

  • Clinical relevance

  • Complementary exams and/or imaging

  • Therapeutic management

  • Reasoned discussion
     

Research Study
 

Related to glaucoma and with completed results:
 

  • Original or relevant topic

  • Clear objective

  • Solid methodology

  • Complete results

  • Critical discussion

  • Applicable conclusions
     

Applications will be evaluated by a review committee composed of members of the Latin American Glaucoma Society.
 

Submissions may be uploaded to the platform in digital format, in either Spanish or Portuguese.

Announcement of Selected Fellows

Selected Fellows will receive an official invitation to participate in the sLAG Fellows Course 2026. The scholarship includes academic registration, airfare, accommodation, participation in the exclusive Fellows Course and the 2026 Scientific Congress, full access to the Scientific Congress, official recognition, and the opportunity to share an enriching academic experience alongside leading Latin American and global glaucoma experts.
 

The Latin American Glaucoma Society invites the new generation of specialists to participate in this call for applications, conceived as a space to learn, share knowledge, strengthen professional ties, and contribute to the advancement of the subspecialty throughout the region.
