Quito enjoys a mild climate throughout the year.

Daytime temperatures typically range between 10°C and 24°C (50°F – 75°F).

In September, light afternoon showers are common. Therefore, it is recommended to bring:
 

  • A warm layer (jacket or sweater).

  • A light raincoat or umbrella.

Climate

The official currency of Ecuador is the United States Dollar (USD).
 

Both U.S. banknotes and coins circulate nationwide, along with locally minted fractional coins, which are fully accepted throughout the country.

The city of Quito is located at approximately 2,800 meters above sea level.
 

During the first days of your stay, it is recommended to:
 

  • Carry out activities at a moderate pace.

  • Stay well hydrated.

  • Avoid intense physical exertion initially.
     

These measures help ensure better adaptation to the altitude.

In hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and tourist establishments, most international credit cards are accepted, including:
 

  • Visa

  • MasterCard

  • American Express

  • Diners Club
     

However, it is advisable to also carry cash for smaller payments.

Credit cards

In Ecuador, taxis generally operate with a taximeter, which displays the fare for the service.
 

Taxis from the airport and hotels usually have pre-established fares; it is recommended to confirm the rate before starting your trip.
 

It is not advisable to take taxis directly from the street at night, especially when traveling alone.
 

For safety reasons, always request taxi services through your hotel, restaurant, or establishment.
